Recce Report
The action of the film begins in the bathroom where one of the girls is sick. We do not know why.
The next scene happens in the bedroom, where the girl gets ready to go to college. Later on in the film when she comes back from the college this is where the main action takes place when the girl eats and then breaks down.
The kitchen is also being used as a location in this film. This is when the the character comes back from college and finds a note from her parents. She also brings out a cake from the fridge. 
Another location of the film happens in this bedroom. This is where the other main character in the film wakes up and gets ready to college. Another important action also takes place here when she comes back from college, this is where the girl overdoses on drugs and passes out.
In this location we are introoduced to the girl's scars. We do not know where they came from but this shows us that something isn't right. This is another significant scene in the film.
This is the part of college in which the two main characters meet. It is clear that they go to the same college and know each other because they acklownedge each other.

Resources For Mise-en-scene
Resources for Mise-en-scene
The Locations:
We are planning to film at:
· College: We are going to film at college because we have shots of the girls getting ready for school and also them sitting in school and watching everyone around them.
· Angelika House: In her house we will be filming the girls getting ready to go school and also them
· A Road: On the road we will be filming when the girls run of the house and run into each other after running away from their problems.
The only problem connected with using as college as a location, is the background noise of everyone around college, and talking while we are filming. But we will film in the quietest place in college.
Also another problem would be when we are filming on the street and again the background noises of the cars going past and people walking up and down the road.
Props:
· Cake: We are going to uses a cake because the girl is bulimic and this relates to our film because she will stuff her face with the cake and be sick after eating showing that she has an eating disorder.
· Drugs: We will use drugs because of the other girl in the film takes drugs, so instead of using real drugs we will uses fake tablets and other substances.
· Mirror: We will use a mirror for when the bulimic girl realises that she has a problem and she needs to stop.
· Bed: We will use the bed for the shot of the film when the drug girl wakes up in her bedroom.
Costume, Hair, Make-up:
· Costume: Both girls will be in casual clothing 'Jeans, Leggings, Shoes, Trainers or Boots' because they'll be getting ready to go to college.
· Hair: Both girls will have their hair done naturally either down or up.
· Drug girl, would wear make-up black mascara, foundation and black eyeliner. But the bulimic girl will not have any make-up on will be natural/cleared faced.
Lighting:
While in Angelika house we will use lighting but manipulated by uses of blinds and curtains and corner/bedroom lamps.

Description of narrative structure and use of film language
In this section, you need to describe the style of your sequence.
You should cover:
§ Structure/form – the sequence of events (linear or non-linear narrative)
The structure of this film varies to others as there is no set equilibrium and the film does not begin with a state of normality. Instead it starts with the bulimic girl vomiting which shows that our film breaks the typical conventions of film and the social drama genre is highlighted at the first instance.
§ Mise-en-scene (setting/location, props, lighting, costume etc…)
There are a number of settings in which the film takes place. These include within a house (bedroom, bathroom and kitchen), college (canteen) and outside. The house scenes will be shot at Angelika’s house so that the film gives off a more realistic impression rather than to film somewhere where all these facilities are unavailable. The college scene will also be shot in a real setting inside Monoux College to maintain the realistic impression.
Some of the props that will be used during the production of the film are costumes which will be necessary when the main characters are getting ready for college in the morning and also throughout the day. Costumes will be kept casual. Make-up is also a requirement as there is a scene where the girl who suffers from a drug addiction looks at her scars (that have been caused from injections) in the mirror and so will need to be created through the use of make-up as well as on her face to show that she has had a rough time. The bulimic girl finds a note on the fridge when she returns home from college and so a note is another prop that will be used during filming. The note is important because it’s a message from her parents that leads to disruption. She will then take out a cake from the fridge which is an important prop as it highlights the problem that she is suffering from which is bulimia and this will be implied by the way she eats the cake. It is essential that mirrors are present during filming because it is through them that both characters are able to see what they have done to themselves which causes them to run away from their problems. A mobile phone will be used at the beginning of the drug girls’ story as she sees a picture of her and her boyfriend saved on her phone which causes her to shed a tear. This is important because it brings to attention the reason why she is unhappy. As one of the girls is a drug addict, it is vital that they are shown during the film and so are also one of the props that will be used. They will be shown in the background at one point and will then be brought to attention at another point when she begins to take them.
A majority of the time, the lighting will be low-key and this is because a darker environment creates a more dramatic effect which is what he film requires. As the storyline for this film is very emotional it’s extremely important for that emotion to be felt by the audience whilst they are watching. This will be created in association with the characters facial expressions and body language which will give off a sad and lonely impression.
Positioning of the characters is another important factor which needs to be considered during filming because there are scenes where the characters are isolated so the way they are situated needs to portray what feelings are being felt.
§ Cinematography (shot types and camera movements)
Shot types and camera movements are vital in showing emotion from the characters. As there is a lack of dialogue it is important for the cinematography work to speak on behalf of them. A variety of shots and angles will be in motion so that particular moods are highlighted. Shots include long and medium shots as well as more important ones like close ups which will be used to highlight important moments within the film as well as point of view shots to put the audience in the characters shoes and show them what the characters are seeing. At the end of the film before the scene ends, there will be an arch shot (360 degrees) around both characters as they bump into each other and this shot in particular will have to be done in such an effective way as it is linked to the cliff hanger ending so will have to leave the audience in awe wondering what happens next as well as to highlight that the two different stories are connected.
· Sound (dialogue, voice-over, effects and/or soundtrack)
The type of sound used will mostly be off screen non-diegetic sound in the form of background music as there is not a lot of dialogue taking place in the sequence but when dialogue is used it will be verbal on screen diegetic sound as we will see where the sound is coming from (each character).
§ Editing (pace and style)
Straight cuts are the main edits that will be used, to show continuity between each scene but moments that vary are the transition between the first girl and the second girl meeting. This transition will be in the form of a rewind after the girls have bumped into each other and exchanged dialogue, the scene will then rewind to tell the other girls story so that the audience can understand how they both ended up in the same place at the same time. Fade cuts and jump cuts may also be used to show a change/passing in time instead of to show when nothing important is happening in the film. This is so that the action is kept on show at all times.

We believe that it is important that we inform people about this to show them the sufferer’s point of view on the situation and so that others try to understand them and their behaviour. Also we would like to advice some people though this movie, mainly focusing on the family issues. We want to advice young people who will be thinking about starting a family about things that they should avoid because those can have huge impact on their children’s development.
Target audience: The target audience for our movie are people aged between 15 and 25 because those people would be most likely to relate to the characters’ issues and daily struggles as they might face them or know someone who does. Also because those people have more time to watch movies. Moreover we target at a lower social class as that involves college and university students and unemployed. Audience Feedback On Pitch
The audience were positive about out idea for the film. They said that it is a well thought about idea and that we have everything in the right place. However, there was a few nevative comments; audience reported that it is unclear for them that the girl is bulimic, because we do not know why she is being sick in the morning.
They also werent sure if the two stories showed are happening on the same day.
Lastly they advised us to work on the acting part of our film as we will be needing a lot of facial expressions and body language for the audience to recieve the right expression.

Pitch
1. Clear idea for a film
The film starts off with a young girl running to the toilet, she is being sick. At this point in time we do not know what is wrong with her. She starts getting ready for college; brushing her teeth, washing her face, putting on her clothes. She leaves to college. At college she sits alone at the bench. This is when we find out that this girl does not have friends. The next thing that happens is the girl going home. She starts calling out for her parents but she finds a note from them saying that they will be away for a while because they have gone to sort out something at work. This is when we find out that this girl does not have her parents to support her. The girl then opens the fridge and with a disappointed facial expression she takes out the cake and takes it up to her room. The next scene is her sitting alone crying eating the cake. Eventually she gets frustrated about being alone she wants to run away from her world so she runs out of the house. She then runs into another girl, they both freeze and look at each other. At this point the whole thing rewinds back to the beginning of the film.
This is where we are introduced to the other girl. The first shot is her waking up, looking at her phone. There is a picture of her and her boyfriend as the wallpaper; we see a tear drop on the phone screen. This girl also starts preparing for college. In her room we see drugs on the table. This is when we find out that she has a drug problem. She gets to college. At break she is alone; this is when we find out that she also is alone. In a background we see the first girl sitting on a bench alone. Similarly this girl also goes back after college, nobody is at home. She also doesn’t have anybody there for her. She turns on sad music, starts crying, starts consuming the drugs on her table. She looks up and sees a picture of her and her boyfriend, she spits out the drugs. At this point she also wants to run away from her reality because she knows she shouldn’t be doing what she’s doing now. She runs out of the house and runs into a girl. They freeze and look at each other. They only say one sentence “this needs to stop”. .
2. An idea for a poster to sell the movie
We came up with two ideas for our poster. The first idea of the poster is:
• Portrait orientation, the top of the poster contains of critical acclaims from newspapers and magazines. Underneath there is our title “Breaking Point”, below that we have a shot from the movie where the two girls look at each other; it’s a side view of them. Below that we have our tag like “It can only get worse before it gets better”. Under that we have the small print; name of the actors, directors, editors etc. And in the left bottom corner we have the certificate 15.
3. Target audience
The target audience for our movie are people aged between 15 and 25 because those people would be most likely to relate to the characters’ issues and daily struggles as they might face them or know someone who does. Also because those people have more time to watch movies. Moreover we target at a lower social class as that involves college and university students and unemployed. This movie is also aimed at people who enjoy watching social drama. Although we aim at both genders, we have a greater aim at the female audience as they are more likely to enjoy social drama movies and are more likely to relate because the main characters are females.
4. Generic Profile
The genera of our film is social drama. It has typical conventions of a social drama through; the story line. In most social dramas we see that the person who has some sort of problems usually is lonely and doesn’t have a good relationship with parents. Some of the props that we use like drugs and phone are also typical of this social drama because they are used in everyday life for some people. Another contribution to the generic profile is the locations used. We mainly use college and the house. These are also locations visited by people every day and seem realistic to the genera. Also the music we are going to use is a sad combined with tension type of music.
5. Consideration of narrative theory (Todorov)
Our film goes against the Todorov’s equilibrium theory. Usually movies will start off with equilibrium then there would be a distribution and by the end a new equilibrium would be created. However there is no equilibrium in our movie, it starts off with a distribution which is the girl running to the bathroom to be sick. The new equilibrium is when the girl runs into the other girl at the end.
6. Key representation issues
Our film shows a negative representation of the gender, age and social class. As most of people do not have those types of issues in every day to day life. Most 17 year old females from a lower social class do not take drugs, do not suffer from bulimia and are not lonely.
7. Description of how the film will look and sound like
• Camera: variety of shots will be used like point of view, worm’s eye view, long shot, medium shot, close up, extreme close up. Also there will be movements like tracking and hand held shots.
• Editing: The editing of the film will be simple, consisting mostly of straight cuts. However we will also use some fades. We will also use an editing to rewind the film backwards. We will also use a light tint of blue to make the movie look more like a drama typical film.
• Sound: We will be using variety of sounds like diegetic and non-diegetic sound, also diegetic on and off screen. We will have dialogues and background music. Also we will be using songs played on the radio.
• Mise-en-scene: The main setting of the film will be in two houses. We will also be shooting in college quad where everybody goes out for lunch and road on the way and where the two characters run into each other. We will be using high key lightning to represent the realism of the movie. Our characters will be wearing jeans, t-shirts and trainers. They will be both moving around in a distressed way, slower movements. Their facial expressions will be withdrawn from the whole society and upset.

Jeremy is a 19 year old white male and a university student studying social work. In his spare time he enjoys doing adventurous stuff with his mates and riding his motor cycle. He enjoys rock and dubstep genres of music and also action films. He tries to catch films on a weekly basis in the cinema using the promotional vouchers with orange's 'orange wednesday'. He doesn't really like shopping but when he does he shops in vintage stores in brick lane and covent garden. his favourite tv shows are true blood and friends.

She enjoys pop and neon-soul genres of music. she is also a film fanatic and regularly watches film every week at least 3. she watches them mostly on the internet and she consumes her favourite Tv shows '90210' and Gossip girl' online aswell. her favourite type of film are social dramas and fantasy and romantic films.
